Grasmere has recently had a huge journey in trying to make school dinners as healthy and tasty as possible. Working with Chefs in Schools we are well on our way to achieve this. But it constantly has to pass the scrutiny of those who eat it: the children! We are always so keen to hear their thoughts and ideas [and criticisms!].
The food council was set up to ensure this voice was heard and that we continue to improve the offer and ensure the children are enjoying what is being cooked. Alongside the food, the food council also help to think of ways that the dining experience can be improved. Ideas have included putting cucumber or mint in the water, having the salads on the tables so children can serve themselves and making the daily menu more visible as the children line up.
