Read Together

We all know how important reading is for our daily lives.  At Grasmere we pride ourselves on being a school of readers. Whether it’s reading to learn, learning to read or just for the pure pleasure of reading a good book; reading is an essential skill to develop.

Research has shown that:

“Developing a love of reading can be more important for a child’s educational success than their family’s socio-economic background”. (OECD 2002)

PARENTS/ CARERS: How you can help…

We are inviting you to help us continue to develop our love of reading by becoming involved in our Reading Together at Grasmere initiative.

Please come in on Fridays at 3pm to read in your child’s class. Don’t worry if you can’t commit to every Friday. Just come when you can.

During this reading time you might read with an individual, a group or the whole class. You can bring in books, graphic novels, dual language texts, magazines, comics etc. that you think the children will enjoy. Alternatively there is plenty of reading material in school.

We would just like you to come in and have fun reading with us. We look forward to seeing you!

Children and their parents/ Carers both report enjoying these sessions.
