Teaching & Learning
All children at Grasmere should have the confidence to achieve, whatever their starting points might be.
As a school we have worked hard to develop a curriculum that is broad and balanced. Each subject is respected in its own right and taught using a planned scheme of learning. At Grasmere, children participate in lessons in:
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics
- Science
- Physical Education (including swimming)
- Religious Education
- History
- Geography
- Art & Design Technology
- Computing
- Spanish
- PSHE (Physical, Social & Health Education)
- Music
We believe in an engaging and rigorous approach to teaching and learning. We know what we want children to know and use effective, research-informed strategies in order to get them there. We want children to be confident, so that they feel like they can take risks, make mistakes, persevere and reflect successfully on what and how they have learnt. We want our children to strive to apply the knowledge and skills they have learnt, to look deeper and become masters of their learning.
In this section you will be able to gain an overview of the curriculum across the year groups and explore key areas of the teaching and learning, such as early years, SEND, our work to become a more sustainable school and the importance we place on outdoor learning.
If you have any questions about your child’s learning, please talk to your class teacher. You can also email info@grasmere.hackney.sch.uk your child’s class email account.
