A Welcome from our Chair of Governors

As chair of governors, I am delighted to welcome you to the governors’ section of the website of Grasmere Primary School. I have been a governor at Grasmere Since January 2023 and I feel tremendously proud of this school community and what we have accomplished together.

As governors, we work in partnership with the Headteacher, school staff, students and parents to ensure that Grasmere offers all students the opportunity to fulfil their potential in a safe and caring environment.

Governors have three core responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school
  2. Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

The daily operation and management of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Our governing body is composed of the Headteacher, a staff governor, a Local Authority governor, parent governors, and co-opted governors. The full governing body meets five times per year. We also have two committees, Curriculum and Resources, which meet at least once each term.

We strive to work closely with the entire school community. Please say hello to me or any governors you may see at school events, where we will be wearing lanyards that identify us as governors. Also please keep an eye out for opportunities to meet and have conversations with our governors. If you have any questions about governors or wish to get in contact with me, you can do so at chairofgovernors@grasmere.hackney.sch.uk

As governors, we are very proud of the school’s educational performance and its experienced, dedicated staff. We are even more proud that Grasmere, as OFSTED rightly noted, is a small school with a big heart. We wish every child happiness and success whilst enrolled at Grasmere.

Kind regards,

Ian Quest- interim Chair of Governors
